‘But the Holy Spirit expressly and unmistakably declares that in later times some will turn away from the faith, paying attention instead to deceitful and seductive spirits and doctrines of demons.’ – 1 Timothy 4:1 AMP

The Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit, gives us accurate information concerning the things that will characterize the last days. We are told that there will be a rise in the activities of demons/foul spirits all over the earth toward the end of the age, such that it may even affect the Church.

Demonic activities that include (but not limited to) manipulations, lies, oppression, sicknesses and diseases, sexual immorality and perversions, riots and wars, depression, occultism, murder, ethnic, racial and religious disputes will increase and many people all across the nations of the earth will fall victim to the whims and caprices of these foul spirits.

It will be a time of great darkness for the [unsaved] people of the earth, but for God’s people, it will be a time of the light of God’s glory.

‘For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you.’ – Isaiah 60:2.

However, many of God’s people are ignorant of the operations of these foul spirits and their evil intentions and malicious hatred for humanity; while many others are ignorant of the fact that they have the power to decide if demons should operate in their lives or not. ‘Lest satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.’ – 2 Corinthians 2:11. In such a time as we live in these last days, spiritual ignorance is a risk that must not be taken by God’s people.

What or who are demons/foul spirits?

‘And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, “Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird!’ – Revelation 18:2.

Demons, also called foul spirits, are disembodied spirits who are naturally invisible to the human eye but exist on the earth. They take pleasure in causing people to sin against God, bringing pain and afflicting humanity with all kinds of troubles and problems. These [foul] spirits are the foot soldiers of satan; he uses them to do his dirty work and carry out his wicked plans. They are the labor-force of the kingdom of darkness, whose greatest goal is to hurt the heart of our Father God, by hurting His people whom He made in His own image and likeness.

This deliverance series is not to attribute everything bad to satan or foul spirits; including all disease, disability, tragedy, and sin, as there is also the flesh and the world. But we as Christians must also remain vigilant against the wiles of the devil. If we ignore the workings of the enemy and remain complacent, it can give satan an occasion to deceive us.

However, in this deliverance series, we are going to talk about 16 types of foul spirits (i.e. unclean spirits, familiar spirits, spirit of divination, dumb and deaf spirit, evil spirits, spirit of harlotry, spirit of jealousy, spirit of bondage, lying spirit, spirit of fear, spirit of infirmity, a blind spirit, spirit of antichrist, spirit of error, a haughty spirit, seducing spirits) and how you can effectively deal with them. You do not have to be under any kind of affliction, deception or oppression caused by these wicked spirits.

The authority of the Church.

‘And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be Head over all things to the Church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.’ – Ephesians 1:22:23.

God loves His creation, especially humans. He does not want any of His children to suffer from the wickedness of satan, so through His Son, Christ Jesus, He gave us all authority over these wicked spirits (and their master, satan).

‘For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.’ 2 Corinthians 10:4.

As you follow through this series, you will discover the mighty weapons at your disposal, which heaven has made available for God’s people to triumph over satan and his demons. However, make sure you are saved and washed in Jesus precious blood, for only then can these weapons work for you.

The need for deliverance.

But on Mount Zion, there shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.’ Obadiah 1:17.

Many people, including some of our friends, family members, colleagues and neighbors, need to be set free from the evil influence of these spirits. People who are addicted to alcohol, drugs, pornography, suicidal thoughts, sexual immorality, anger and the likes, most likely need to be delivered from the influence of these spirits.

Though a large number of believers are already completely free, there are still thousands and thousands who are yet to come into their liberty in Chris Jesus.

The need for discernment.

‘Do you look at things according to the outward appearance?’ – 2 Corinthians 10:7.

Most of the sinful and wicked things people do are motivated by these spirits. We must learn to look beyond the physical (outward appearance and actions) and look into the spiritual side of things. The is one of the reasons God’s word tells us about our need for discernment and made it available if we ask for it in prayer (See 1 Corinthians 12:10).

Discernment is spiritual insight which goes beyond the natural. It is the spiritual ‘binoculars’ by which we see what is obscure and hidden to the physical eyes.

As you are reading these deliverance series, I want to encourage you to keep asking the Lord to give you the [supernatural] ability to discern. It is very important in these last days that we ‘watch and pray’ so that the enemy will not take advantage of us or any of our loved ones.

The danger of sin.

It is a dangerous thing to be living in sin while trying to get [yourself or someone else] free from demonic influence. In the words of A.A Allen; “Sin is the devil’s bridgehead over your life!” The devil and his foul spirits are always drawn to those who live in sin.

I encourage you to repent of every sin in your life and accept Jesus and the redemption He has purchased for you through His blood. This is the only ticket to everlasting freedom!
